FAQs

Below are answers to some commonly asked questions about our cat café. If you have any further inquiries, feel free to contact us by phone at 248-482-8271 or by email at AvocatoCatfe@gmail.com.
We recommend reservations as our capacity is limited, so please reserve in advance whenever possible! Walk-ins are accepted when we have space, but pre-paid reservations will receive first priority. If we are at capacity and do not have space for walk-ins, you may be asked to come back later.
We average approximately 10 cats in our main cat lounge, with additional cats available in our smaller rooms and kitten nursery. Our population varies by season.

No, we do not allow outside cats, and we cannot accept animals directly at the catfe. If you need to surrender a cat, please contact our rescue partner, Pet Adoption Alternative of Warren (PAAW). We recommend reaching out to other rescues/shelters as well, as we may not always have the capacity to assist every request.

Teens aged 12 and older can visit unaccompanied. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, who is responsible for their active supervision throughout the visit.

For the safety of our cats and guests, we ask that you not pick the adult cats up during your stay. If they come to you and sit on your lap, that’s fine! But the choice should be theirs. You may pet the cats, play with them with their toys, or feed them some delicious treats. Kittens may be held by parents only. Children should not hold the kittens directly. Please ensure that you support the kitten fully when picking up, and be gentle as kittens are fragile and need to be handled carefully.
YES! Kitten and cat wet food, and especially litter are always needed and appreciated. We also accept toys, beds, and lightly used cat trees. Financial donations can be made via our donation page or by purchasing an item through our Amazon Wish List.
Food is available for purchase at the Catfe, including snacks, beverages, and grab-and-go options. All proceeds from food purchases go directly toward the care and support of our cats and animal rescue programs. We ask that no outside food be brought into the catfe, and that no food be left alone in the cat areas so the cats don’t help themselves to it.

Our adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccines, and microchip ID. For specific adoption fees, please refer to our Adoption Fees page.

While same-day adoptions are possible, we require an application screening process that may take longer than a single visit, depending on volunteer availability. If you are considering adopting, we highly recommend completing an adoption application prior to your visit to expedite the process started. If you do not have a specific cat in mind, simply enter “TBD” in the name field.

Teens age 12 and up can volunteer with a parent; ages 16 and up can volunteer with an adult over 18.  Click here to learn more about becoming a Volunteer.

All of the cats at Avocato are rescue cats from our parent organization, Pet Adoption Alternative of Warren.  We do not accept cats directly at the Catfe’ from the public. If you would like to see if space is available for PAAW to take a cat, please complete a surrender request form!
